TL;DR: Access Google Ads by going to ads.google.com and signing in with your Google account. If you can't log in, check your password, two-factor authentication settings, and make sure you're using the correct Google account. For managing multiple accounts, use a Google Ads Manager Account (MCC).
Whether you're logging in for the first time or you've been locked out of an existing account, getting into Google Ads should be straightforward. Here's how to access your account, fix common login problems, and find your way around the dashboard.
How to Log In to Google Ads
Logging In for the First Time
Go to ads.google.com and click "Sign In" in the top-right corner. Use your existing Google account (the same one you use for Gmail or YouTube). If you don't have a Google account, you'll need to create one first at accounts.google.com.
After signing in, Google will prompt you to set up your first campaign. If you're not ready for that, look for "Switch to Expert Mode" at the bottom of the setup screen, then look for the option to create an account without a campaign. This lets you explore the dashboard before committing any budget.
Logging In to an Existing Account
Simply go to ads.google.com and sign in. If you've been signed in to other Google services (Gmail, YouTube), you may be logged in automatically. If you manage multiple Google accounts, make sure you're signed into the one associated with your Google Ads account by checking the profile icon in the top-right corner.
Bookmark ads.google.com for quick access. You can also download the Google Ads mobile app for iOS and Android to check campaign performance on the go.
Troubleshooting Google Ads Login Issues
Forgot Your Password
Go to accounts.google.com/signin/recovery and follow the prompts to reset your Google account password. Since Google Ads uses your main Google account credentials, resetting your Google password fixes your Ads login too.
Two-Factor Authentication Problems

Get a Free Ads AuditIf you have two-step verification enabled and can't access your authentication method (phone, authenticator app), use backup codes. Google provides backup codes when you first set up two-factor authentication. If you didn't save them, you'll need to go through Google's account recovery process, which can take several days.
Account Access Denied or Suspended
If Google has suspended your Ads account (usually for policy violations or suspicious billing activity), you'll see a notification when you try to log in. The notification typically explains the reason and provides steps to appeal. Policy suspensions can be appealed through the Google Ads Help Center.
If you received access to the account from someone else and it was revoked, you'll need the account owner to re-add you under "Access and security" in Account Settings.
Multiple Google Accounts Causing Confusion
This is one of the most common login frustrations. If you have multiple Google accounts (personal Gmail, work email), you might accidentally sign into the wrong one. Google Ads will show you whatever account is associated with the signed-in Google profile.
Fix: Sign out of all Google accounts, then sign in with only the one that has Google Ads access. Or use Chrome profiles, one profile per Google account, to keep them separated.
How to Navigate the Google Ads Dashboard
Key Sections of the Interface
Once you're in, the left sidebar is your main navigation:
- Overview: A summary dashboard showing key metrics and performance trends.
- Campaigns: Where you create, manage, and monitor all your campaigns.
- Ad groups: Organize keywords and ads within campaigns.
- Ads & assets: View and edit your individual ads and ad extensions.
- Keywords: Manage your keyword lists, including search terms and negative keywords.
- Audiences: See and manage audience targeting.
- Tools & settings: Access Keyword Planner, conversion tracking, billing, and account settings.
Customizing Your Dashboard View
Click "Columns" above any data table to add or remove metrics. Common customizations include adding conversion rate, cost per conversion, and impression share. You can save custom column sets for quick access.
The date range selector (top-right of any data view) lets you compare performance across different time periods. Use "Compare" to see this week vs. last week or this month vs. last month.
Managing Multiple Accounts with a Manager Account (MCC)
If you manage Google Ads for multiple businesses or clients, a Manager Account (formerly My Client Center or MCC) lets you access all accounts from a single login. You can switch between accounts without signing in and out.
To create one, go to ads.google.com/home/tools/manager-accounts and follow the setup process. Manager Accounts are free and essential for agencies or freelancers handling multiple clients.
Keeping Your Google Ads Account Secure
- Enable two-factor authentication on your Google account.
- Review who has access under "Access and security" in Account Settings. Remove anyone who shouldn't be there.
- Use unique, strong passwords. Don't reuse your Google password on other sites.
- Check login activity periodically at myaccount.google.com/security.
